ทั้งนี้เขาประกาศยกหุ้น เฟซบุ๊ค สัดส่วน 99% ที่ถือครองอยู่ (มูลค่าประมาณ 45 พันล้านดอลลาร์) ให้กับ Chan Zuckerberg Initiative หน่วยงานการกุศลของเขาและภรรยา โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อยกระดับขีดความสามารถของมนุษย์ ส่งเสริมความเท่าเทียม ลดความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคม เพื่อให้เป็นพลังในการสร้างชุมชนที่แข็งแกร่งให้กับคนรุ่นต่อๆไป
